In a rare move, Lakehead Public School Board trustees have voted to censure one of their own.
Trustee Deborah Massaro has been criticized for what board Chair Ellen Chambers indicates was for not going along with a board motion.
It happened at a closed-door board meeting in May.
“So when trustees pass a motion…after it passes (the ruling is something trustees) now have to follow,” explains Chambers.
She adds it is a “serious matter” since “trustees aren’t generally censured.”
The move does not come with any penalties so Massaro can continue to sit as a trustee.
Trustee Massaro tells us she will not comment publicly on an in-camera matter but has retained a lawyer and plans to appeal.
