A routine traffic stop in Shuniah turned into a drug bust.
On Wednesday officers with the provincial police performed a traffic stop on Highway 11-17 near Lakeshore Drive for a traffic infraction.
The on-scene investigation led officers to search the vehicle.
The search revealed suspected cocaine, fentanyl and other items associated with drug trafficking.
“The total street value of the suspected cocaine & fentanyl that was seized is approximately $22,000.00,” said the OPP in a release.
As a result, all four individuals in the car were arrested.
A 17-year-old, and a 31-year-old from London, Ontario are facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
A 30-year-old, London resident is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, contrary of the Highway Traffic Act;
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act;
- Drive a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act;
A 29-year-old, Toronto resident is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Breach of Recognizance, contrary to the Criminal Code;
All of the accused were held in custody for a bail hearing on Thursday.
