A large quantity of drugs has been taken off the streets of Thunder Bay.
The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit began an investigation in April after receiving information about potential drug trafficking activity.
Through the investigation, two search warrants were obtained.
On Tuesday the warrants were executed at homes on Victoria Avenue East and Albany Street.
A suspect was arrested and suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, and oxycodone were seized during the Victoria Ave, search.
The Albany Street search resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm, quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, and roughly $10,000 in cash.
In total, police seized nearly one kilogram of cocaine, and about 200 grams each of crack cocaine and fentanyl.
The estimated street value of the drugs is $200,000.
A 29-year-old man has been charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking x2
- Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
- Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order
The accused appeared in court on Wednesday and remains in custody with a future court date.
