The Regional Health Sciences Centre is reaching the region with a new online video of its paediatric tour.
Ron Turner, Director for surgical services, says paediatric tours have been offered at the hospital for the past five years, to ensure the operating room isn’t a scary place for its youngest patients.
But Turner says it only services the local community.
“We had such great success with the in-person tour, we felt that we weren’t really servicing the region as well as we could, and by putting something online, it’s giving the same opportunity to patients and families that we were giving to our local residents,” says Turner.
“We really want to make sure that we are decreasing the anxiety of paediatric patients and their families when they come to surgery, so it can be the best possible experience for everyone.”
Turner says the video launches within the next couple of weeks.
