It’s business as usual for Resolute Forest Products now that the softwood lumber agreement between Canada and the United States has expired.
However company spokesperson Seth Kursman says there’s concern for the future and the company is having conversations with the federal and provincial governments about any future softwood deal. Kursman says for now, in the absence of an agreement, there’s unfettered free trade in lumber between our countries.
Kursman says Resolute hopes any future deal will include so called exit ramps for provinces that have implemented market based reforms.
