Rent Freeze Ends, New Increase Guidelines Set

2021 saw rent increases freeze to help people focus on staying afloat during the pandemic.

Now that 2022 is here, the rent freeze has lifted.

In previous years, rent could only be increased by 2.2 per cent, any higher and the Landlord & Tenant Board would need to give approval.

The new increase is set lower for the new year at 1.2 percent.
