Rain is helping ease the forest fire situation in many parts of northwestern Ontario.
There are still 58 active fires, mostly in the far reaches of the region, but the Ministry of Natural Resources says the rain has helped several others to be declared out in recent days.
The forest fire hazard is low through most of the northwest.
