Public Schools Taking COVID-19 Precautions

If you have a child in the Lakehead Public School Board, you can expect to receive a letter from the Lakehead Public School Board about the COVID-19 virus.

The board says they are working with their custodial staff to ensure they have the resources and appropriate training to ensure that their schools continue to be safe and clean for students and staff.

Officials note janitors will be cleaning surfaces that are handled often, like pencil sharpeners, toys and electronic devices, doorknobs, and faucet handles.

Teachers will also be reminding students about the importance of washing your hands.

Last week, the board cancelled a Westgate High School trip to Europe since countries they were visiting neighboured Northern Italy, which is classified as a level-3 health notice for the virus.

There have been no reported cases of the virus in our community.
