Public High School Teachers Vote To Strike

The pressure continues on the Ford government from teachers in the province to reach a contract settlement.

This time, public high school teachers have voted overwhelmingly to go on strike. Thunder Bay union official Rich Seeley stresses no date has been set for any kind of job action.

He says five days notice has to be given before anything can happen and the union wants to “let this week’s bargaining play out” before making that decision. Seeley suggests that is likely to happen on Thursday or Friday.

Harvey Biscoff the president of the OSSTF says they are very far apart of a deal.

The high school teachers in Thunder Bay vote 95 percent in favour of strike action just like the teachers in the province.
