Provincial Funding Helps Patient Transfers

In the continued effort to ease overcrowding at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, about 25 patients are being transferred to Hogarth Riverview Manor.

The CEO of the North West Local Health Integration Network, Rhonda Crocker Ellacott, explains they are patients who are still waiting for long-term care.

They will be part of an additional 39 seniors who will wait at Hogarth Riverview until something more permanent comes up.

The move will take place in about a week and will involve about five patients per day.

The transfer is being made possible because of a recent grant of $2.5 million from the Ford government.
