Province launches NORP

NORP is up and running to help businesses impacted by COVID-19.

The short-term Northern Ontario Recovery Program will help adapt to new public health guidelines and protect employees and customers.

“As the province continues to respond to the ongoing challenge of the global pandemic, our government will continue to support our business owners, entrepreneurs and workers,” indicates Greg Rickford, the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines. “There’s no denying that COVID-19 has had a significant impact on businesses throughout Northern Ontario and this program will deliver targeted funding so they can continue to serve their communities.”

Companies can get help with:

  • Building renovations and new constructions
  • Customer and employee safety installations
  • Equipment purchases, including personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Marketing for new business initiatives
  • Restructuring of business operations

Applications will be open from Thursday October 1st through until Thursday December 31st, with the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) administering the new program.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
