Postal Workers Seek Council Support

The union representing Canada’s postal workers is seeking municipal support to keep door-to-door mail delivery in place.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has fired letters off to muncipalities asking them to pass resolutions that call on Canada Post to reverse its planned changes to mail delivery.

Those changes include setting up community mailboxes to replace door-to-door service.

CUP-W is also asking municipalities to support its call for public consultation on the future of postal services. They say over 400 cities and towns have already passed resolutions.

The union’s letter is in the Fort Frances council agenda on Monday.
