Porter Thunder Bay Flights Resume Sept. 8

Porter Airlines will again be taking off on September 8.

Domestic flights will resume to Thunder Bay, Toronto, Halifax, Montreal, Quebec City and St. John’s 18 months after the planes were grounded due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The re-launch will include a peak of three daily round trips between Toronto and Thunder Bay.

Flights to the United States will resume shortly after this on September 17 with destinations including Boston, Chicago, New York, and Washington.

“This is the moment our team members, passengers and the communities we serve have been waiting for,” said Porter Airlines President and CEO Michael Deluce. “The pandemic has progressed to the point that we can now begin restoring service across our network, focused around our main base at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Being grounded for more than a year has been incredibly difficult for everyone involved.”

500 employees will be recalled to work with more staff returning as more flights and destinations return to the schedule.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
