The Port of Thunder Bay continues to push cargo through at a high pace.
CEO Tim Heney points to the 1.1 million metric tonnes which was handled last month, the best July they have had in over two decades.
He credits the good showing to an increased movement of coal and potash, adding the increased canola shipments are helping to keep total grain payload up as well.
The port CEO indicates anytime they see numbers like they saw in July, it’s “quite encouraging.”
Heney adds, it also helps to show our worth as “the most efficient grain port in Western Canada” with fast turnaround time for ships and rail cars ‘keeping us competitive with the rest of the country.”
