Police Officer Assaulted In County Park

Two city police officers got more than they bargained for when answering a call in County Park.

They say it began last night at around 9:30 when they were called to deal with a suspicious man at a Wentworth Crescent address.

Police report one of the two officers was struck in the arm with a large steel baton by a suspect who refused to leave the bedroom of the house.

The combative man was eventually subdued and now a 50 year old man is charged with assaulting a police officer.
