Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) are saying they have heard about residents obtaining fake proof of vaccination certificates.
Officers have said one incident involved a local social media account advertising the false documents available for sale. Something similar occurred with another local user claiming they had created and used a fraudulent certificate.
These complaints are currently being investigated by members of the Criminal Investigations Branch.
TBPS are working closely with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to ensure pandemic safety measures are being followed under Ontario’s re-opening act.
Police are reminding people that creating and using fake proof of vaccination certificates could lead to criminal charges.
