It’s always great to hear stories about police officers handing out “good citations”.  Have you heard of these?

It’s a refreshing twist on traditional policing….where officers don’t write up citations for speeding or infractions, but….for KINDNESS!! There’s a national nonprofit support organization in the U.S called “Kindness 911”.  It helps not only police officers, but also firefighters connect with the communities they serve.  They spotlight individuals and groups who make a more positive impact.

How does it work? If an officer spots someone doing something kind (it could be helping a stranger, or going out of their way to brighten someone’s day), they issue a “Kindness Citation”.  Their act of kindness is then shared on social media, and the organization makes a donation to a charity in their honour!

We’re living in a time where news headlines aren’t the greatest.  KINDNESS 911 is a simple reminder that there are good people everywhere!
