Police Going After Distracted Drivers

Local police are going to spend more time checking for distracted drivers.

Traffic Sgt. Gordon Snyder says any activity that distracts you from driving is a problem.

“Although there aren’t specific offences for each different type of distractions like reading, eating, there are infractions that would be applicable if you aren’t showing due care and attention to your driving.”

Police say they are going to be getting creative in finding distracted drivers like crossing on foot at intersections and riding on city buses.

Distracted driving could include reading, eating, using a phone, or using GPS while driving.
