Police Confirm Fatality In Greenstone Fire

Sad news from provincial police of a fatality after a Greenstone house fire.

They tell us they were called Thursday night at around 8:30, to a home on Cyr Way.

Police say there were nine people in the house when the fire started. Eight managed to get out, who told emergency crews a 2-year-old child was still inside.

Several attempts were made to find the child, but to no avail.

One man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police add eventually a body was found, and taken to Thunder Bay for an autopsy to be done at a later date. They have not released the identity of the victim.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
