Police Cleared In Man’s Death

No charges will laid against police after the death of a man in Shuniah.

The OPP’s Special Investigation’s Unit was called in after they say a 31-year-old man took his life at a home on March 12th.

On that day, a woman called 911 to say her son had threatened to kill himself as well as her. Police add an officer was able to reach the man by phone, and about an hour and a half an hour later, the man left the house and walked into the forest with a rifle.

Soon after, the man died of a self-inflicted shot to the head.

The SUI has determined there is no ground to proceed further, and has closed the case.
