Police Chief Shares Concerns Over Viral Video

Police Chief Sylvie Hauth says she shares the community concerns about a viral video showing a female police officer appearing to strike a teenage girl on a gurney.

Police report the incident took place on Saturday evening when police were helping paramedics on another matter.

While at the scene, they say an intoxicated 17-year-old girl was found in the house and was being readied on a gurney to be taken to the Regional Health Sciences Centre.

That’s when police say the officer can be seen to be in physical contact with the youth.

According to police, the officer involved has been served with a notice that she is under investigation and is currently off-duty.

They are aware of threats made through social media to their officers, which are being investigated with the help of social media providers.
