PolIce Chief Responds To TBPA

More than words, but a personal commitment and values as Police Chief.

Those words from Sylvie Hauth in response to the President of the Thunder Bay Police Association (TBPA), who is calling for an independent investigation into the actions of Thunder Bay Police Services (TBPS) and the Thunder Bay Police Services Board (TBPSB).

Hauth maintained, in a written statement, that she took a solemn oath to faithfully, impartially, and according to law, discharge her duties as Chief of Police.

“It is clear that the TBPA President has aligned himself with Police Services Board Member (Georjann) Morriseau regarding issues which are now before outside Tribunals,” the statement read. “I, along with the Police Services Board, and my Senior Administration, adhere to due process in a strict and ethical manner. We respect the right of individuals within our organization to make complaints and applications to any oversight body. We respect the rule of law and the need to follow the process by which these complaints must be dealt with. Therefore, there is a need to limit public remarks while these matters are being reviewed.”

Hauth noted that she stands in unity with our senior leadership team, and the Thunder Bay Police Services Board to meet any challenges head on.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
