Police Can Stop Anyone Breaking Quarantine

The Ontario government is not messing around when it comes to social distancing and enforcement against COVID-19.

As of Wednesday, any police officer can now ask for the identity of anyone who has been charged with violating self-isolation, as per the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Anyone who gives a false ID, can face a fine of $750, and $1000 for obstructing police.

Furthermore, failure to comply with quarantine orders can bring a fine of up to $100,000 and one year prison time for individuals, and up to $10-million for corporations.
