Police Board Postpones Decision On New HQ

There’s another delay in efforts to get a new police headquarters building.

The Police Services Board has postponed making a decision on the proposed $50 million dollar facility.

It was in December the board voted to make the decision at their January meeting at Micheal Power’s request so he could become more informed.

Power had just recently been sworn in as a new member of the board.

After discussions with the police chief and others, he believes city council needs more information before the board approves the project.

“We need to engage individual councillors, help them better understand the project, get their feedback, get their guidance, understand their concerns, their issues,” says Power.

The proposal comes back to the police board in April.
