Police Arrest Man Wielding Baseball Bat

Thunder Bay Police were at a Cumming Street apartment complex early this morning for a weapons call, after receiving reports of a man wielding a baseball bat.

Officers were notified the man was swinging the bat in a stairwell and had struck a woman, shortly after 2 a.m.

After spotting the suspect, who attempted to flee, officers engaged in a foot pursuit and took the 29-year-old into custody.

Conveniently the accused was already wanted by police, for a probation breach.

He has been charged with:

• Assault • Obstruct Peace Officer • Assault with a Weapon • Mischief Under $5,000 • Fail to Comply with a Probation Order

The accused appeared in court today and was remanded into custody.
