Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada is still hopeful they’ll be able to reach a new NAFTA agreement.
Trudeau says they continue to push for a good deal for our country.
“We continue to engage in near continuous negotiations, conversations are constant and ongoing. We are very much looking in a positive and constructive way to getting to a renewed NAFTA that will be an agreement between Canada, United States and Mexico.”
Trudeau isn’t overly concerned by an American imposed deadline to reach a deal.

Meanwhile, Trudeau is passing the torch to his Foreign Affairs Minister at the UN General Assembly.
Chrystia Freeland will speak on Canada’s behalf something Prime Minister Justin Trudeau feels she will excel at.
“Canada’s voice has been present and very noticed over these past few days. I have tremendous confidence in our extraordinary and tireless Foreign Minister in representing Canada and Canadians Friday afternoon.”
Trudeau spoke at several events this week that were taking place along side the General Assembly.
