Plea Made In 2017 North Side Death

A Thunder Bay man has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter in relation to a 2017 death.

Court heard in the summer of 2017 the accused Garnet Loon was at a drinking party on Carl Avenue where he got into a fight with the victim Robert Gray.

Loon was originally charged with second-degree murder in relation to Gray’s death and manslaughter in connection to Kory Lee Campbell who was also found dead in the residence.

The Crown Attorney has withdrawn the manslaughter charge against Loon.

The judge is expected to formally convict Loon on January 6th and hear sentencing submissions from both the defence and prosecution.

His co-accused Kailee Loon recently received one day in jail deemed served for each of the two counts she faced in relation to Campbell and Gray’s deaths.
