City police are helping celebrate Pink Shirt Day by donating a friendship bench to Crestview School.
The nationally recognized event is an anti-bullying and awareness day that originally started on the east coast, where a boy wore a pink shirt to school on his first day of Grade 9 and was harassed because of it.
Several students in his school decided to stand up for him by asking others to wear pink the next day.
Local officers will be trading in their uniforms for pink shirts and speaking with students about how they can use the bench to form better relationships with their classmates. (Photo supplied City Police)
