Don’t expect to use the parking lot by the Delta hotel at the marina until the end of September.
Brian Newman is the project engineer for the city, and tells us they’re waiting for parts of a new lighting system, meant to light up the whole parking lot for events. “Patio lanterns, so to speak. These lights string from pole to pole, and they’re LED’s, so they’re super energy efficient, and they will be used for night features, whether it’s summer, winter or fall.”
While the parking lot will be usable at that time, complete construction is not likely to be done until November, but, the project is on budget.
“$538,000, I think it was. We’re somewhat on schedule, we would be completed and paved by now, but we’re waiting for these kind of heavier duty bolts,” says Newman.
He adds the work was expected to be done by the end of August, leading the way for events including Busker Festivals, moonlight flea markets and food trucks, which will also be there. This work on the parking lot was part of plans originally from 2014.
