Over 225k of illegal drugs seized in Thunder Bay

A drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay has led to the arrest of five people and the seizure of illegal drugs valued at over a total of $225,000.

Police began the investigation into drug activity in the city in the fall of 2024.

Multiple suspects were identified and two homes were searched.

On Thursday a home on Cameron Street and Rona Street were searched.

The suspects were arrested and officers seized quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and an unloaded shotgun.

As a result, a 63-year-old from Thunder Bay is facing the following charges:

  • Trafficking cocaine (three counts)
  • Trafficking fentanyl
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Breach of release order

A 21-year-old and 32-year-old from North York are facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine)

The 21-year-old was also charged with trafficking cocaine (two counts).

A 26-year-old and 30-year-old from Thunder Bay have been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm.

All of the accused remain in custody with future court dates.
