Mayor Bill Mauro says it’s a mistake that the province won’t reopen golf courses, ball diamonds, soccer pitches and tennis courts.

Health Minister Christine Elliott has indicated that medical experts are telling the government that we need to see a continued reduction in COVID-19 cases before more amenities could open.
Late in April the Mayor sent a pair of letters to Queen’s Park advocating for activities to reopen and more vaccine distribution.
“If you won’t allow to re-open outdoor recreational opportunities and activities to re-open, that’s saying we’re still in some area of concern like the rest of province. If that’s the case then continue to give us an equitable distribution of the vaccines.”
Elliott is pleading for everyone to limit their mobility in order to reduce COVID-19 transmission.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported 45 active cases as of Wednesday.
Premier Doug Ford first put Ontario in lockdown as of April 1st, which was followed by a stay at home order on April 7th that was extended to last until at least May 20th.
