Man Dies In Hwy 11/17 Collision

Update 4:30am, Thursday:

Tragedy on the TransCanada highway northeast of Thunder Bay.

Provincial police say 25-year-old Mandeep Singh Sohi of Brampton died when a transport truck and passenger vehicle collided head on early Wednesday afternoon, on Highway 11/17 in Pearl, Municipality of Shuniah.

The deceased man was a driver of one of the vehicles.

Police add several other people were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The highway was closed for several hours into the night, only to be reopened a few hours after midnight. The cause has not been determined yet, but provincial police are asking drivers to adjust driving habits to accommodate recent drastic changes in weather conditions, such as slowing down, or not driving at all. If you have any information about this tragedy, call OPP.
