Oh, Sugar! Shortage of the Sweet Stuff?

Some people are worried that the United States will run out of sugar by the end of the year. Apparently America’s sugar stocks are low, and bakers and candy-makers are worried that they might not have enough if they don’t get an increase in imports. Word is there’s been a series of disastrous weather events that took a toll on the sugar-beet harvest in the fall, leading to the shortage. For the full story, click here.

On the more serious side, this could have a huge impact on people’s livelihoods. On a completely frivolous note, I would be very disappointed to not be able to get a Whatchamacallit when I go to the States.

What sweet treat would you miss the most?
