ODA Pleased With Child Dental Benefit

Some parents and caregivers can now apply for Canada’s Child Dental Benefit.

It’s for kids under the age of 12 for low income families that don’t have dental insurance.

Dr. Lisa Bentley is the president of the Ontario Dental Association and says the program is good news, but it only affects some people right now.

“What we’re seeing or hearing is that some people are delaying treatment thinking that dentistry is going to be free in Canada, and that’s simply not the case,” says Dr. Bentley.

“So we have to make sure that people are coming regularly to the dentist and not postponing treatment.”

Dr. Bentley says by 2025, the program will be expanded to kids under the age of 18, people living with disabilities and seniors.
