Roger Cleo Storkson

Roger Cleo Storkson, age 70, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on July 19, 2026.

Born on May 31, 1956, in Rainy River, Ontario, Roger was raised and educated in Rainy River, where he graduated from Rainy River High School. He later lived in Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg, Manitoba, before making Thunder Bay his home.

Roger had a remarkable gift for creating beauty in everyday life. Blessed with an extraordinary eye for beauty and detail, he transformed ordinary spaces into warm and elegant places where everyone felt welcome. One of his many passions was sewing, a talent that he beautifully incorporated into his creative pursuits. From designing and creating custom window coverings, reupholstering furniture, and crafting unique pieces, to preparing beautiful meals, baking fresh bread, and pulling a pan of his famous sticky cinnamon buns from the oven, everything Roger created reflected the pride, care, and love he poured into it.

Nothing brought Roger greater joy than gathering his family together. He believed that love was shown in the little details. From beautifully setting the table for a family meal to thoughtfully preparing a guest room so every visitor felt comfortable and cared for, he had an extraordinary ability to make people feel special. Nothing was ever out of place because every detail mattered to him, not for perfection’s sake, but because he wanted those he loved to know they were cherished.

Roger was an exceptional cook, a gracious host, and a genuinely kind and cheerful soul. His laughter was contagious, his generosity knew no bounds, and he had a special gift for bringing people together. His home was always filled with warmth, wonderful food, and heartfelt conversation. Those fortunate enough to know him will remember not only his many talents, but also the love, comfort, and sense of belonging he so freely shared.

Roger was a valued member of the Dusk to Dawn Interiors family for approximately 20 years, until his retirement in 2025. His creativity, dedication, and willingness to take on whatever was needed made him an invaluable part of the business. As his employer shared, Roger was both the left and right arm of Dusk to Dawn Interiors, a reflection of just how much he contributed and how deeply he was appreciated.

He is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Bob Storkson, Marie Kreger, Rita Wilson (Anthony), Edward Storkson (Theresa), and Michelle Raine (John), together with his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Theresa Storkson; his brother, Leo Storkson; his sister, Alice Ivall; his sister-in-law, Violet Storkson; and his brother-in-law, Tom Kreger.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, the compassionate ParaMed nurses who cared for Roger in his home for many months with such kindness, support, and gentle care, and the dedicated staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, whose compassion, dignity, and exceptional care brought comfort to Roger and his family during his final days.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date.

In memory of Roger, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund through the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

Roger leaves behind not only cherished memories,

but a lasting reminder that the greatest expression of love

is making others feel welcomed, valued, and at home.
