Judy Hooker

September 19, 1950 – October 8, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Judy Hooker at home surrounded by the love of her family on October 8, 2026.

Judy was born on September 19th, 1950 in Fort William, Ontario. She found professional fulfillment in business ownership with her sister and providing accounting services for various airlines until her retirement from Bearskin Airlines in 2018, but her greatest pride and joy was always her family.

She embraced life and leaned into adventure with her whole being. She traveled and bowled, fished and camped with family and friends and was an enthusiastic participant in every chapter of her children’s lives. She opened her home for band practice, dance parties and sleepovers throughout the decades. Her love shone through as she danced with family and friends at her son’s performances, hiked with her daughter, scheduled date nights with her grandchildren and could be counted on to share her wisdom whenever it was requested. She was always present cheering at our sports games, volunteering for social events, or simply joining in on our latest hobbies. Her presence was deeply woven into the fabric of our daily activities, and her joy to be involved created a lifetime of cherished memories. She had a unique ability to make those around her feel welcome and valued, and her home was always a place of warmth and encouragement.

She fought a courageous battle with cancer with grace and dignity and it was only when she could fight no longer that she allowed us the honour to care for her as she cared for us so lovingly through the years.

Mom lived a life defined by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. She touched so many lives with her infectious smile and will be greatly missed. Though she is no longer with us in person, her legacy of love, laughter, and strength will remain in our hearts forever. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace and that her spirit lives on in the many lives she touched.

Judy is survived by her devoted children, John (Patty), Theresa (Paul), Maryann (Ross) and Michael; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher (Cristy), Nicholas, Michael (Melanie), Alexander (Caitlyn), Jenna and Tyler and her beloved great-grandchildren Kara, Jacob, Cayden and Jamie. She is also survived by many loving extended family members, and will be especially missed by her niece Bobbi Lyn Caldwell (Richard)

She is predeceased by her parents Gordon and Joyce (Gonyou) Monteith, her brother Ron Clark (Linda) and and her sister Linda (Monteith) Caldwell

A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at the DaVinci Centre, 340 Waterloo Street, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Northern Cancer Fund (payable to TBRHSF).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 Gore Street at James.
