It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Janet (Jane) Ruth Brassard on March 7, 2026 at the age of 85.
Jane was born and raised in Thunder Bay on May 20, 1940. Over her years, she was a member of the Fort William Girls Pipe Band, the Wesley Church Choir, the Wesley Collection, and #66 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. She loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays and the Pittsburgh Penguins, and following the careers of Thunder Bay NHL players.
She will be missed by her son David (Carole) of Winnipeg; son John of Thunder Bay and daughter Karen McIlwain (Gregg) of Thunder Bay, her grandchildren and great grandchild. She will also be missed by longtime friends Agnes Nistico and Margaret Looney. She was predeceased by her special friend Jim Milne.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Sister Leila Greco and Janzen’s Pharmacy for their outstanding care while she lived there. Special thanks also to the staff of Thunder Bay Regional Hospital emergency department and ICU for their care and compassion.
As per her wishes, there will not be a funeral. If friends desire, donations can be made to the local Humane Society or Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in her name.
