Barbara Kruzick

Barbara Kruzick passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 5, 1946, in Port Arthur, Ontario, to Clara and John McCartney.

Barbara met the love of her life, Vladimir, while travelling in Europe in 1966. They were married on May 11, 1968, and shared 58 wonderful years. Together, they raised three children and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Barbara was a member of Lakeview Presbyterian Church and worked for the City of Thunder Bay Parks and Recreation Department.

Family was always at the heart of Barbara’s world, and nothing brought her greater joy than her children and beloved grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Nanny.” She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, generosity, and the quiet, thoughtful ways she made everyone feel loved and welcome. Barbara found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including baking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, playing Scrabble, and spending time with family at Hawkeye Lake. She also treasured visits with loved ones in Croatia, keeping family connections close despite the distance.

Barbara leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will be forever cherished by her devoted husband, Vladimir; her children, Gregory (Ling Lee), Steven (Christina Hiscox), and Korinne (Brent Thierry); and her grandchildren, Kyle, Johnathan, Dani, and Ryan. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Mary Jean Larocque and Carol Klukie; her sister-in-law, Neda Kruzick (Croatia); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Clara and John McCartney; her brother, David McCartney; her nephew, Joshua Klukie; her brothers-in-law, George Larocque, Reg Klukie, and Dusan Kruzick (Croatia); and her beloved parents-in-law, Antonia and Ivan Kruzick of Croatia.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather at Sargent & Son Reception Centre, 21 North Court Street, Thunder Bay, on November 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. for a time of remembrance and to share memories of Barbara’s life. A private interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Laferriere and the staff of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Cancer Care team for their compassionate care and support. Special thanks are also extended to Diane Hiscox for her unwavering friendship, kindness, and support throughout this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Cancer Care.
