The provincial Liberals have no interest in calling a quick by-election in Simcoe North where long-time Conservative MPP Garfield Dunlop is stepping down so leader Patrick Brown can run.
In an open letter to the Conservative leader, Deputy Premier Deb Matthews notes a provincial by-election in the fall would mean it’s happening in the middle of the expected federal election.
Matthews says the only way to avoid the conflict, would be to call a by-election after the federal vote. (File Photo)
