The province’s civilian police watchdog has determined that no charges are warranted against a Thunder Bay police officer in a bar brawl.
Special Investigations Unit Director Joseph Martino says they looked into the actions of the uniformed officials on the night of October 28th, 2020.
In his report, Martino said the suspect officer arrested a complainant lawfully and the officer in question as well as the witness officer were doing little more than defend themselves when attacked by an unruly crowd.
The incident happened just before 11:00 that night at a south side bar.
One man was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre to be treated for lacerations to his left leg and right buttock.
