A city fire official explains it will take some time to prove exactly what happened at a Saturday fire on Hartland Street which sent a person to hospital in critical condition.
Eric Nordlund suggests finding the cause to that rooming house blaze may be more complex than other fires and doesn’t believe they will have an answer on the cause “for a period of time.”
Authorities tell us the house was home to between six and ten international student, some of whom, barely made it out.
Meantime, a barbeque on a back deck is thought to be the cause of a Sunday house fire on Little Lake Road on the Fort William First Nation.
Nordlund says the damage to the home is extensive because it took a long time to assemble crews for a fire on the reserve.
