Nipigon OPP seize cocaine in traffic stop

A Monday night traffic stop by members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has produced a drug trafficking charge.

OPP officers pulled over a 32-year-old from Lake Helen First Nation.

An investigation of the woman turned up suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, as well as items which the OPP says are consistent with drug trafficking.

Now the arrested individual faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Operate a motor vehicle while permit is suspended

The accused has been released from custody with an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon scheduled for July 14.
