New School Has Microsoft Support

When it opens in September the new Elsie MacGill Public School on Churchill Drive, will be a part of the Microsoft Flagship Schools program.

The Microsoft website says the program is about “Collaborating on new school projects to demonstrate what’s possible to transform learning and deliver sustained success.”

School principal Heather Harris explains the program is for schools under construction and Microsoft helps with the design, build, and launch of the new facility.

Elsie MacGill is the first school in the country to be a part of the Microsoft schools program and so it lets them “Collaborate with school leaders around the world to hear what they’re doing in their schools to help make students more successful and to prepare them for the future.”

The school principal notes Microsoft experts have already been here to work with students and staff as part of the program. Harris says it is to make sure “Not only are they learning sort of the three 4r’s…but also how to innovate and how they best learn…because we know we’re preparing them for jobs that probably don’t even exist right now.”
