New Housing Support Unit patrol leads to drug charges in south side TBDSSAB building

A southern Ontario resident is facing charges after being apprehended with suspected illicit drugs in their possession by the new Housing Support Unit and city police officers.

The unit and officers were on patrol in Spence Court, a Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) apartment building, on Tuesday morning, where they encountered an individual who was not a resident of the building.

Officers searched the individual and located quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, as well as cash, and items associated with drug trafficking.

As a result, an 18-year-old from Pickering is facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
