New awards for respect and community safety

Thunder Bay is combining a couple of awards into one.

The new Respect and Safety Awards will replace the Respect Awards and the Mayors Community Safety Awards.

Nominations have to be in by August 29th.

There are five Award categories this year.

That includes: Everyday acts of respect and kindness, Inclusion, Accessibility & Equity, Youth & Senior Changemakers, Environmental Stewardship, and Community Safety Innovator.

“Strong communities are built by the people who care for them, said Louisa Costanzo, Manager Community Safety & Well-Being.

“These awards are an amazing opportunity to share these stories and celebrate everyday actions that connect us and inspire us. Nominate a deserving person today!”

The awards will be handed out at the Community Safety and Wellbeing Forum at the Community Auditorium on September 27th.
