New audio recording facility set to open

A journey that has taken more than two years is now complete and Thunder Bay is now home to an audio recording facility that caters to both the music
and TV/film industries.

The facility features multiple acoustically designed and treated studio spaces, a Dolby Atmos mixing room, state-of-the-art audio and video infrastructure,
and specialty features like built-in pits for recording foley sound effects for movies and television.

The business offers a list of services, including recording, mixing, composition, sound design, foley, voiceover, videography and more. Clients will be able to do anything from music production to foreign language narration, podcasts, immersive audio mixing for large format theatres, and more.

The community will also see opportunities to engage with the space through studio rentals, programming and events to be announced later this year.

The facility’s development has been supported in part by BDC, NOHFC, FedNor, Thunder Bay Ventures, NWO Innovation Centre, and the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Blueprints is owned by Jean-Paul De Roover, known for his music career as an international touring solo artist since 2007.

While he may not be on stage as often, his passion for audio continues as a composer, producer and audio engineer.

Integral to the fulfilment of his vision was Jennifer King of Approach Design, responsible for the heavy research and design of the facility, and Chris Dorota of Advanced Systems Integrations, who designed and implemented the audio/video infrastructure.

To celebrate the grand opening there will be an open house event held at the facility at 911B Tungsten St on Friday, January 26, from 1:00pm – 9:00pm.
