Kenora Liberal MP Bob Nault has confirmed his intention to seek re-election in the upcoming federal election.
Nault was elected in 2015 in a highly contested battle with Conservative Minister Greg Rickford and former Ontario NDP Leader Howard Hampton.
“As a Northerner first, and as the federal representative for the Kenora Riding for 20 years, I am honoured and pleased to announce that I am running to be the Liberal candidate in the 2019 election,” Nault says.
Nault claims he’s running again because Northerners can’t afford another federal Conservative government, comparing leader Andrew Scheer to Stephen Harper and Doug Ford.
He believes our region could fall further behind with fewer investments for essential programs.
Nault argues the Liberals believe our children deserve to inherit a clean environment, a robust healthcare system and revitalized communities.
He claims his party will continue to support First Nation communities and opening up the North to investment.
Nault adds he’s focused on new infrastructure, attracting new industry and creating more jobs.
Nault stresses Northerners must be heard and work together to ensure our area reaches its full potential.
The Conservatives in the riding have already selected Eric Melillo of Kenora as their candidate.
