The Nishnawbe-Aski Nation had its 6th Annual Food Symposium at East Loon Lake.
Last week about 60 participants came to learn from Elders about how to continue traditional food practices through story-telling and awards ceremonies.
NAN Deputy Grand Chief Derek Fox says food is a major part of NAN society.
Fox said one of the purposes of the food symposium was to celebrate the successes of NAN, as there is sometimes too much sad news about NAN with water, housing and other social problems.
