Murder Victim Convicted Of Sex Charges Against Spence

The defence lawyer for Monica Spence says there were many “twists and turns” at her bail hearing this morning.

Christopher Watkins says the court heard evidence that Richard Spence, the city’s 11th homicide victim of 2014, had been convicted of sexually assaulting Monica in 2007.

Monica, 45, is facing charges of second degree murder in relation to the death of her 62-year-old cousin.

Watkins adds Monica testified today that her bail plan of release is to go to Hamilton for treatment. A Superior Court judge will continue to hear evidence tomorrow at 10 a.m. (File photo)
