Released Murder Suspect Caught

The suspect who was accidentally released from the Thunder Bay District Jail last night has been caught.

Police say Kareem Zedan, who is from southern Ontario, was picked up in the Intercity area around this afternoon around 2 o’clock.

A spokesperson for the provincial Ministry of the Solicitor General says the inmate was released from the Thunder Bay Jail in error. Kristy Denette says “any improper release of an inmate is unacceptable and the ministry takes these matters very seriously. Police were immediately notified.”

Zedan was arrested in Thunder Bay on March 24, charged with two counts of first-degree murder in Brantford.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
